NEWS FROM THE CHICAGO Association is a little sparse as these words are written due to the fact that scheduled dates for most of the events on our fall calendar have not been reached. Next month's issue will contain a more complete report on the special luncheon held on October 17 at which Elmer Layden, high commissioner of the professional football world, was our guest. We also will be in a better position to relate items of interest occurring at the picnic sponsored by the classes from '32 to '4l held at Timson's Farm in Deerfield on October 19. This event, inaugurated two or three years ago by the class of '37 as a class party, has developed into an annual event and has been expanded to include all of the younger classes.
The annual drive for contributions to the scholarship fund under the able leadership of Ed Keeler '11 is now well under way. Let this be a reminder to all of you who haven't yet responded. II you need an incentive other than the worthiness of the cause, give a little preliminary consideration to the income tax you'll have to pay next year. Deductions should not be unwelcome and when they will help give some deserving boy a college education there should be no further argument.
The record book showing attendance at our daily luncheon table in Mandel Bros, grill indicates that in recent weeks we have been favored with visits from several alumni residing in other parts of the country. They include Ingham Baker 'si, John Cronin '12, Orton Hicks '21, "Tibby" Marshall '25, Clarence Mc Davitt '26 and Bill Nigh '26. We hope that other members of the clan having occasion to be in Chicago from time to time will do likewise.
