PLANS ARE UNDER WAY to make Monday, December 22nd, "Dartmouth Day" in Chicago. Whether or not we can prevail upon the mayor and city council to declare it an official holiday seems doubtful but nevertheless all alumni in this vicinity are cautioned to reserve the date.

Festivities will start with the undergraduate luncheon at noon. Later in the afternoon the annual Christmas cocktail party sponsored by the Association will be given. All local alumni and their ladies are cordially invited to be present at this function. The locale of both these events will be announced later. At eight o'clock in the evening the varsity hockey team will meet the University of Illinois in an exhibition contest at the Chicago Arena. It looks like a full day so make your plans accordingly.

Another event during the holiday season that will be o£ interest to Chicago alumni is the basketball game to be played between Dartmouth and the University of Wisconsin at Madison on New Year's eve. We have been advised that the Milwaukee alumni have secured a choice block of tickets so that good seats for the game are assured those who apply promptly.

An overflow crowd turned out to hear Elmer Layden, commissioner of professional football, reminisce on the experiences of a football coach, at Mandel's Grill on October 17. Elmer also gave us some interesting sidelights on the game as played by the pros. He is a most informal as well as entertaining speaker and it was a highly successful meeting.

Don't forget Monday, December 22nd!
