THERE APPEARS TO BE no organization in this vicinity capable of recruiting a squash racquets team with sufficient ability to dethrone the Chicago Alumni Associations' champions. For the third successive year the Dartmouth team has won the Chicago District Squash Racquets Association championship. Congratulations are again in order for Henry Parker '26, captain. Dud Pope '23, Charlie Hill '31, Jack Wright '32, Henry Macdona '33 and Laddie Myers '20. Dud Pope added further to his laurels by successfully defending both his city singles title and his title as singles champion of the Western Squash Racquets Association. Space will not permit detailing the individual accomplishments of other members of the team but they all performed with distinction.
Because this issue goes to press prior to April 19th, we can't at this time give proper recognition to the entertainment committee and its corps of co-workers whose efforts were responsible in such large measure for the success of the Spring Party. We know, however, that words of appreciation coming more than a month afterwards will seem a little belated. Therefore, our sincere thanks to you all at this time with the assurance that a more complete report will appear in this column next month.
Sid Hay ward '26 was a welcome visitor to Chicago in the latter part of March. He gave an informal talk to a group of more than fifty members of the Association who attended a luncheon at the University Club on the 26th. In the evening of the same day he met with the past and present members of the executive committee and the officers to discuss ways and means of promoting the interests of the College in this locality.
Another event the last of March that proved to be a source of great satisfaction to Chicago Alumni was the account that the varsity basketball team gave of itself in the intercollegiate championship games at Madison, Wisconsin. Those who were fortunate enough to see the team in action were unanimous in expressing the opinion that, regardless of the outcome, it was the best on the floor.
For the benefit of out-of-town visitors as well as for those in Chicago who may have forgotten it, we remind you of the daily luncheons on the ninth floor at Mandel Brothers, the time—12:15 or shortly thereafter.
