The son of Arthur Redman, and his daughter, born November 1, 1940, are shown above. As father of the youngest '01 children, Arthur has this to say: "To date, however, it is truly wonderful and if life for Mr. Pitkin began at forty, for me it began at sixty and every day in every way it is getting better and better."
The Vanderhoofs spent the month of February at the Casa Marina at Key West, Florida. Van has been chairman of the executive committee of the Board that has just completed the 18-story, 21/2 million dollar, hospital for the Medical College of Virginia which represents the last word in construction and equipment, he is naturally very happy and enthusiastic about it.
A splendid write up of Deacon and Alice Hildreth activities in feeding and keeping "open house" for birds, appeared in a recent issue of a Lowell paper. A careful hotel "register" is kept up to date in diary form with an account of all the birds observed through the windows which overlook the feeding grounds. The species of the birds are listed daily. At least 50 different kinds of birds are listed each year. The Hildreths assist the government in banding and in migration surveys. The birds are captured in a simple trap arrangement and released as soon as the band is correctly fixed around one leg. The number and information of each bird is then sent to Washington where it is filed for reference.
