It's sum-sum-summah-time! Ross Perot is hot. Bill Clinton isn't. J. Danforth Quayle can't spell "potato," and a new child's game called "Mr. Vice Presidenthead" is about to hit the market. Election years are just too much.
Bill Huber, technocrat in training, took a break from Sikorsky Aircraft and buying a new home in ultra-rural New Fairfield, Conn., ("The only sounds we hear at night are toads mating.") to say hello. Bill and Lynn have two children: Kelsey 3 and Clare 1. Bill and Lynn left Kelsey and Clare alone with the toads to ski together in peace and solitude at Silver Star in British Columbia. In general, Bill appears to be feeling very good about life. We like that.
The theatrical Rob Thurber "went international again," this time on a four-week, seven-country tour of A Broadway Revue with Milwaukee's Skylight Opera. Mr. Thurber served as production stage manager and encouraged me to look him up in Montevideo. I get invitations like these all the time—"Ken, stop on by next time you're in Casablanca... we'll leave a light on." Oh, please. Why won't anybody in the United States ask me in? Wait. I'm digressing.
Chris Rademacher lives in Chicago. Other than that, he has very little to say about himself. He did report that John Flanders married Jill MacGregor (Keene State '86) last October in Manchester, N.H .John is top-dog, numero uno, big enchilada with the commercial lending department at Bank of New Hampshire. '83 wedding attendees included Dan Mullins, Dan Kurys, and Scott Jacobs-Rebhun and wife Marty '82. John and Jill are quite the athletic couple. They hike, ski, run, speedwalk, and bungee jump daily.
I can't believe it, but Marc Ericson finally emerged from his secret hiding place and actually wrote a postcard. I almost wish he hadn't. Marc/Ling/Duckling now lives in Hawaii, kayaks to "work" (term used loosely), and-yes, again—says "come visit!" During the past five years, Marc has been sighted at Penn State, Santa Fe, an oilfield in Houston, a bar in Montreal, a casino in Morocco, and the cafeteria at Oz. Call (808) 259-8301 if you want to abuse him.
Kate Rugen married William Timothy Rogers in June in Rhode Island. Kate continues her sporting ways as a tennis coach at URI and teaching professional. Tim golfs and also runs the Pfizer Corporation.
"Cheep! Cheep!" No, that isn't ChipGreene making noise, but his new son Neil, delivered weighing eight pounds courtesy of wife Patty and the stork on March 13. For reasons unknown, Patty and Chip want to call Neil "Trip." The three Greenes now live happily in Hopkinton, Mass.
From Savannah, Ga., Wade Herring, Esq., sends salutations and subpoenas. Wade practices law with reckless abandon for Hunter, Maclean, Exley & Dunn. He comprises 50 percent of the Dartmouth alumni (under age 35) in Savannah. Jim Wessinger, another legal eagle, makes up the other half. You know how seeing certain names makes you wince? Mr. Wessinger is a case in point. Jim was my tutor in Math 6. I paid him money. He did a lousy job. I got a C-.
Uh, oh . .. Maria Olsen is out of control. When we last checked in with our CNN scribe, she was in Moscow covering the famous (and failed) Soviet coup. For this Maria received the Peabody Award from the National Press Club. Not bad, kid. Maria also reported proudly on her physical condition (she wins all kinds of running races), the house she bought in Atlanta, and seeing Nick Roberts "He's working for Ogilvy & Mather now and looking... mighty fine. Yesirreee, MIGHTY fine." That's a direct quote, by the way. No couch potato, this woman.
Time's up, folks. Come fall, news about Jeff Soldatis, Marisa DeAngelis Kane, BraceAndrus, and Ingrid Llovera. Be good.
