DARTMOUTH IN ST. LOUIS came into the news with the spring flowers and the Blitzkrieg into Greece.
Dartmouth bachelors in St. Louis were rudely awakened one morning to see in the newspaper the announcement of the engagement of Tom Curtis '32, to Miss Susan Chivvis. Tom has always been looked upon as a tower of strength in bachelor circles and for him to fall is indicative of the uncertainty of the times.
Marty ICerwin '33, and his wife took a two weeks' vacation to Mexico and had quite a time, from all reports, with Harry Deckert '35, and his new wife. Harry and Juliabelle are taking a short, month's honeymoon in Mexico before returning to their new home and the problems of housekeeping.
Dan Kerwin '35, and his wife saw the horses run at the Kentucky Derby. Although Dan is listed as a St. Louisan, he seems to spend most of his time elsewhere.
Our first draftee is Ed Grace '3B, who joins the Army in June for a year's training.
A 1 Lathrop '2B, does not show up very often these days for Curtis-Wright is keeping him very busy turning out planes for the Army.
Group activities in the St. Louis Club will consist this spring of a Dartmouth- Washington and Lee spring strawberry festival. We plan to hold this June Ist, and we feel that the addition of the W. and L. alumni may add to the quality of the party.
Plans are in a tentative stage for the presentation of the hockey team to St. Louis next Christmas.
A fine group of boys from here applied to Dartmouth for the Class of '45. With few exceptions, all our selections were acceptable to the College, and we are justly proud of the work done by Clark Schmidt's ('33) Alumni Interviewing Committee.
