DARTMOUTH ALUMNI OF THE Northwest assembled on April 11 to hear a thrilling story of how the College is meeting the War situation. Dean Neidlinger presented the story in an inspiring way which aroused the admiration of both alumni and guests with respect to the fortitude with which the College is acting. Coach Osborn Cowles outlined the athletic situation and the possible effect of present conditions from this standpoint.
Familiar faces were absent from the meeting, as many of our members have joined the armed forces. The new officers elected for 1942-43 were: Carl V. Elmquist '25, president; Stuart F. Seidl '30, vice president; Wood Foster '33, treasurer; and C. E. Whitney '24, secretary. Already Carl has written to advise that he has accepted a commission in the Air Corps of the U. S. Army and to ask that his resignation be accepted.
Bobb Chaney . '35, new chairman of freshman admissions, replaces Lieut. John Faegre of the Navy, reports an excellent group of prospects for the freshman classes.
George Porter, assistant secretary, is accumulating a list of alumni in the service in the Northwest, which now numbers between 40 and 50.
Luncheon meetings at Donaldson's Egyptian Room, Minneapolis, will be discontinued for the summer, continuing the first and third Thursday of each month.
Henry Thrall '06 has very generously invited the alumni to hold the annual picnic at his farm on the banks of the Minnesota River.
