On Thursday, December 17, 1942, out of a clear sky six of the Old Guard dropped in at the Dartmouth Club in the late afternoon for an old-time "gab-fest." Ned French, Bill McGrail, T. Brown, Lonnie Russ, Joe Nuelle and your secretary spent a most enjoyable hour together. All '06 men who get to New York are cordially invited to drop in at the Club whenever in town.
Converse A. Chellis Jr., son of Con and Grace, is now a second lieutenant in the Signal Corps, after completing the course at the Officer Candidate School, Fort Monmouth, N. J. Lt. Chellis is now stationed at the Dayton Signal Depot, Dayton, Ohio.
Jack Kingsbury's son, Wallace, is in the U. S. Air Service, Glendale, Calif. A recent letter from Noble Bowlby advises that on October 5 he attended the ordination service of Oscar Gibb's son. A letter from Gus Ayers states that his residence is now at 1213-C Aleua Drive, Honolulu.
Norm Russell's address in Washington, D. C., is 1884 Ontario Place, N. W. His business address is Room 608, 462 Indiana Ave., N. W. and his official title is "Industrial Analyst," Bolt, Nut, Screw and Screw Machine Products Section, Division of Construction and Utilities Bureau of the War Production Board.
George Swasey is in Orlando, Florida, for the winter. Foster Guyer Writes that the Navy officers in their blue uniforms and white hats add a colorful note to the Dartmouth campus. A note from Ned Herr, at the time of the Harvard dinner, states that a doctor's life is a sinecure these days as he rarely has to work more than twenty hours a day.
If any classmate can give me any information about Gene Smith it will be greatly appreciated. A letter from Mrs. Smith referred to him as "Major Smith" and merely told of his death. My letter to Mrs. Smith was returned by the Post Office with the notation "Left no forwarding address."
