One of the most enjoyable speakers to arrive on the Portland and Oregon Dartmouth scene in many years was Coach Bob Blackman at a dinner held at the Mallory Hotel in Portland on June 11. Arrangements for the dinner were made by V.P. Jud Goldsmith'61 and President Barney McPhillips '50 acted as M.C. for the evening. We were pleased to have with us Kim Wayson '70, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wayson '39 and the families of two other new frosh, Tom English and Bill Koenig. Deke Olmstead '69 and his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Dick Olmstead '41 were also present. Other alumni attending were Hal Douglas '58, a new arrival to the northwest and an easy convert to this beautiful country. Another new arrival on the scene attending the dinner was Jay Herpel '59. Blake Hering '53, Ken Montgomery'25, Dud Sercombe '27, John Ross '19, GuyBusch '49, Ron Honeyman '25, Bill Farrens '61, many wives and some friends were also in attendance.

Sam Martin '27, enrollment chairman for the Club, was not with us, but his annual report was given. Sam noted that 25 applications from Oregon had been submitted, twelve of these had been accepted, and six of these twelve will be entering the College this fall. Although this appears to be an enviable record for clubs with more than ten applicants, Sam warned of the need for more active enrollment work next year, particularly because of the competition created by an active Princeton organization.
