April 24th was a memorable day for Pete Richmond and family, for on that day Eleanor—on her way to her office—fell and broke her left arm, which has retired her from active service for at least one month. Later—on that day—a wire to Pete from his son, Lieut. Col. Allen, in Washington, announced the arrival of a daughter"Mother and baby 0.K."

We have just learned that Allen has received orders to report to Camp Edwards on May 27th for a period of training with the Coast Artillery, preparatory to active service. Mrs. Richmond, son Jonathan, 2 yrs. old, and baby Marcia Ann expect to summer at the Richmond home in Hingham.

Mary Frost writes that she came North in April and is now busy cultivating her beautiful flower and Victory garden in Williams Bay. The Kellys plan to come North the last of May and remain in Newport, R. 1., for the summer on account of local conditions. Arthur Fairbanks and Mary are in St. Johnsbury as usual.

On May 7 Spud wrote, "I rarely go out in the evening as, though I have some pep in the morning, by mid-afternoon I am ready for a full-length stretch on a couch. Yet I hope to attend the annual meeting of our State Medical Society in Concord next week."

After a long illness, Mrs. Thurston, early in May resumed direction of her housekeeping and, on warm days, sat under the trees in the yard to share the sun and apple blossoms with the birds.

Mrs. Jenks sends greetings to all in '86 and states that she spent the winter in Carmel, Cal., with her daughter, Ruth, whose two children are in active service Earl, an ensign in Navy Aircraft, an instructor at Dallas, Texas, and Babette, now at A & M College in Texas as instructor in Link flying. Babette expects to be ind ucted into the WAAFS soon.

Mrs. Jenks' son, Herbert (Dartmouth '17), veteran of World War I, is living near her in Evanston and is busy with housing and defense work, in addition to his regular activities in real estate. His wife is very active in civilian defense work.
