For the third straight generation, sons of the Bingham and Merrill families have entered Dartmouth in the same class, thus establishing some sort of record for family attendance at this college.
G. Chandler Bingham, of Cambridge, Mass., and Dean Merrill, of Mena, Ark., both qualified for entrance to the civilian College in the class of 1947, but both were ordered to report here as V-12 trainees, Bingham in the Navy and Merrill in the Marine detachment.
G. H. Bingham, Jr., and C. D. Merrill, respective fathers of the two boys, were classmates at Dartmouth in the class of 1919, while, in turn, their fathers, Judge George H. Bingham and Dr. William T. Merrill, the grandfathers of the present students, graduated together in the class of 1887.
