For the first time since I have been secretary, there isn't a single item of news of the ordinary nature in the file, but unfortunately, there is to report the death of two classmates, and what is most unusual, one of these deaths occurred two years ago and one over three years ago. No record has ever been received until this time, when the college office advised me. If any classmate can give me any details on either or both, it would be a real help in preparing a proper notice for the class and college records.
The first of these was William A. McDonough, who, it is recorded, died in Westfield, Mass., November 23, 1940. Only the bare date is available, and we do not know the circumstances of Bill's death.
The second is Dr. Milton M. Rosza, who died on March 18, 1942, place not given, and the only information about Milt is the date sent into the college office by the Dental Society of New York, and that information was not given the alumni records until a week or two ago.
We hate to lose track of classmates like that, for we all knew both Bill and Milt well. I recall Bill very well, because in undergraduate days, he and I were members of the Dartmouth Press Club, when he was the Dartmouth representative of the Springfield Union. Milt was known to all of us who patronized the Grill in the old days, and in both cases we are not only
grieved to know of their deaths, but likewise that no record has been available for so long.
Two changes of address from the college office are given: Herbert D. Lanterman, Box P, Oak Ridge, Tenn.; and Brig. Gen. Howard E. Fuller, Ft. McClellan, Ala., which makes official what I indicated last month, that Howie is back in the United States after a long tour of duty somewhere in the South Seas.
So there you have it; perhaps not much, but I didn't want to mar the one hundred per cent record for having at least something in every issue of the MAGAZINE. But we can't make it up—so sharpen up your pencils, or follow Phil Baker and buy an Eversharp, or dictate a quick note to your secretary, or something—for a lot of good hot news for the next issue.
