Lines to be Carved over the Lintel at 3530 Quesada Street
A babe-bearing old stork's aplomb Was but slightly disturbed by a bomb. When they asked, "A near miss?" The stork smiled and said, "This Is no Miss but a Mister, named Tom."
If classmates recognize the Quesada Street address, they will be able to associate the Tom of the preceding limerick with one Thomas Edward Marks, born March 25, in Washington, to Margaret and Ed Marks, and joyously welcomed by his "hyperactive" sister Katie. As if to cap the climax, the baby's grandfather, Edward B. Marks Sr., was just at that time seeing through the press the final proofs of his new book They All Had Glamour, sequel to his earlier wonder-book about the old-time theatre, They All Sang: from TonyPastor to Rudy Vallee. To the Edward B. Markses, both junior and senior, congratulations on a double production of a baby and a book. Ed Senior doesn't know which to be more pleased about, the grandson or the glamour-book. Ed Junior reports that Tom weighed 8 lb., 9 oz. at birth and contains a lusty pair of lungs. As to class news, Ed is still with WRA, liking his job a lot, but not planning very far ahead; the Coltraans recently paid Washington a visit; Lt. Rod Hatcher is stationed in Washington; and John Clark was there briefly after completing army basic training and before going overseas.
Your secretary received a unique Easter card, relayed via V-mail from Capt. Bo Wentworth, who spent a joyous Easter in (probably) the pleasant town of , . In the Easter Rabbit's remark about his plans for the evening, Second Fronters might, if they like, read some sort of implication about the Invasion. I held this column up as long as I dared in order to make some remarks about the Invasion and Bo's prophetical Easter-card, but now I can only hope that the Invasion will arrive before these notes reach your mailboxes.
From the other side of the world, that is, the Southwest Pacific, comes a letter from Capt. Ralph Elias, who is rounding out two years in that area. He is currently with an Evacuation Hospital, APO 709, San Francisco. "Dear Professor," writes the Captain, "A little while ago I received the January ALUMNI MAGAZINE and Carleton's most palatable class digest. These are practically the only phenomena other than Hanover hallucinations that I've had in two years here. Actually I did meet briefly two Dartmouth men of other classes. Regards to Fred White and Ed Marks if you ever see or hear of them." Ralph enclosed two very generous checks, for the Alumni Fund and the Stern Memorial Fund respectively, and to him go our thanks and the best of wishes.
Class Agent Bill Morton, who is doing a bang-up job on this year's Alumni Fund (sent your check in yet?) reports that Capt. Irv Kramer, currently serving on the famous island of Tarawa, sent in a check in the same generous amount as did Capt. Elias. These guys in the Pacific may bring the Fund over the top yet. Anybody want to argue?

Irv Kramer, Lt. Leonard Salit, Capt. Bob Dickey, Lt. Paul Cook, Capt. Ed Truex, and Lt. Harold Plumb. Lt. A 1 Christie and Ed Holbrook are both in the Navy, while your old pal Chuck Odegaard is now a lieutenant commander. In the Army are Capt. Milt Lieberthal, Capt. Paul Dunn, Capt.
