News items of '36 are as rare as are '36ers themselves around these parts. Time was when you could figure on bumping into some of the gang on the street. And in the course of chewing the fat (always starting out with, "Say, d'ya know who I ran into last week," or, "Guess who blew into town?"), you'd get some real news. Gone are the days—for awhile, anyway.

Even the annual Alumni Association dinner at the N. Y. Dartmouth Club last month brought out a small '36 contingent. There was Doc Bob Ingersoll, who's mighty busy at one of New York's busiest orthopedic hospitals. For those of you who remembered Bob, as did I, as a pretty heavy guy, be it known that now Bob is mighty trim Frank Wetstein was on hand, along with Jocko Morrison, who put in just about his last public appearance as a civilian. Ruth, Jocko's wife, has kept us posted, and reports that her ensign is really working hard up at Ft. Schuyler Barry Stevens came clown for the get-together from Washington. After all this time, he knows his way around there, and seems to be in touch with the many '36ers who make D. C. their headquarters. Among the comparative newcomers is Lt. Bob Morris, doing some "hush hush" work in the Pentagon Bldg. His Welcome mat is out for '36 at 2431 North Edgewood Ave., Arlington, Va.

According to his brother Bill, Dang Scherman is still enjoying life for Life in England. We see his pics in that weekly, almost weekly. And Budd Schulberg, reported to be on duty with the Navy in the Pacific, had an article in a recent issue of The New Yorker. Good reading!

Lt. (jg) Stan Walker was aboard a Coast Guard combat cutter which saved the crew of a disabled British armed trawler adrift for five weeks in the North Atlantic Joe Haddad, in the Army Medical Corps at Ft. Devens, has received his two silver bars And here are some more service promotions as forwarded to us by the Alumni Records office (Several of these titles may not be news to you): Capt. Phil Gilbert, Lt. Joe Bishop, Capt. Gordy Brown, Lt. Howland Rogers, Lt. Niels Nielsen, Ens. John MacNeary, Lt. Charles M. Thompson, Capt. Gene Austin, Capt. Jesse Gait, Lt. (jg) A 1 Gibney, ist Lt. Bob Walker, Ens. Andrew Titcomb, Lt. Bill Talman, 2nd Lt. H. D. Houghton, Capt. Joe Schaeffer, Capt. Mort Hair.

Pete Wright is farming over in Westwood, N. J. Ditto for Ed Goble, down in Glenwood, Ark Wistar Williams is resident manager of the Boston office of the Hercules Powder Co Hunt Sutherland, in Indianapolis, is with the Reilly Tar and Chemical Corp Phil Clark is principal of Guilford, Maine, High School.

When many of you read this column, it will be old stuff that Barry Sullivan has taken over for Ed Brooks as class agent. Ed started his job well, and we all will want to give Barry our help. You'll be hearing from Barry—via Tithe (which Huf Huffman will be dishing up henceforth). In the meantime, need I point out how urgent is your support of the Alumni Fund, and how much your contribution will be appreciated? I needn't? Fine—then send yours up to Hanover as soon as possible.

And unless you guys send in some news, your column is apt to take on all the earmarks (quantitatively and qualitatively) of a one-inch classified ad. As for that? Perish the thought!
