(Reading time: many minutes too few) The New Hampshire State Planning and Development Commission has named MerrillTeuloti as its acting industrial director. He has been with the Commission since August, 1945. Before that, he was an industrial representative of the good old Boston & Maine Also in a top managerial post is Tom Luey, now Technical Director of the American Coating Mills, Elkhart, Ind.
Hank Mascarello breaks into print quite regularly around Boston. As executive secretary of the United Prison Association of Massachusetts, he's guest speaker at banquets, forums, meetings. One of his recent speeches on "Why Our Prisons Fail"—sounds like echoes of Holben's Soci course.
Now, every time we pick up the New Yorker Magazine, we look for one of Jim Gidney's inimitable poetic gems. We spotted a second piece of Jim's two weeks ago. Although we can't offer him the wide readership of a national, commercial magazine—nor the corresponding financial inducement—we invite Jim to step into our shoes to prepare a lyrical lament (to end all laments) of a correspondent without correspondence. Watch future issues to see if and how our invitation is accepted.
Via the grapevine, we heard rumors that Dick Spong has written a book, to be published soon. Hope it's true.
Details have been forwarded from the West Coast about Ed Pike's marriage to Jane Parrish on January 26. The Pikes honeymooned in Arizona, then returned to Diablo, moved right into their new home.
It's a little girl, Stephanie, for Ruth and EdBrooks, on February 15. That makes three prospective Carnival queens for the Brooks. ....Eleanor and Jim Tindie's third child, Randall, arrived on January 10.
Dick Vail is representing '36 in and around New York on an advisory committee to the Dartmouth Club. Which reminds us that it won't be long, we hope, before a regular schedule of '36 get-togethers will be launched at the Club.
Thanks to Stoney Jackson's father for clearing up the mystery surrounding Stoney's unpublicized trip to Australia. Mr. Jackson's communique explains that Stoney, wife and two small boys are flying via Pan-American back to the U. S. from Melbourne, after a five month's visit. They start on March 19.
