Professor Harold H. Scudder retired as head of the English Department of the University of New Hampshire on July Ist. In line with University custom Professor Scudder has relinquished administrative duties but will continue teaching.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Eugene Drennen of Denver, Colo., have announced the marriage of their daughter, Elizabeth White, to Donald dejongh Cutter, Lieutenant, Army of the United Stales, on Wednesday, August 1, 1945, at Saint Thomas Church, Denver, Colo.
It is good news that "Kid" Cohen has improved in health and has enjoyed a trip to Hanover this past summer.
Charlie Hall and wife, of Amesbury, Mass., took to the road after gas became plentiful, travelling north to Norwich, yt., stopping at Kilton Rabin where Ernest and Elaine Brown have been vacationing for the past three months, and at Hanover for a view of the old stamping ground. All are reported well and happy.
Arthur K. Smith of Gloucester, Mass., has given up his work with the General Electric Cos. at Lynn and his address now is 123 Mt. Pleasant Ave., Gloucester, Mass.
Mort French, our class agent, is to be congratulated on his Alumni Fund effort. With a quota of $2550 he raised $3614.50. The number of contributors was increased over '44 by 9. That meant much work on the part of Mort and an increasing good spirit of the class.
Clayton L. Erwin has resigned as Deputy Superintendent of Schools in Vermont and has changed his address from Ludlow to Bellows Falls, Vt.
One of the many prisoners released from Jap prison camps is Commander O'Kane who was commander of the famed U. S. Submarine Tang. Comdr. O'Kane is the husband of the former Ernestine Groves, daughter of our classmate Ernest Groves of Chapel Hill, N. C. He holds seven "Navy decorations, including two Presidential Citations, two Gold Stars, one Silver Star, the Navy Cross, and the Legion of Merit.
