THE SUMMER HAS PASSED with its world-shaking and College-changing events, but things here have strung along their usual course.
The annual golf outing was held again this year at the Lakewood Country Club in Ontario. It can be said that the steaks were every bit as good as usual and the golf about as poor. The real golfers were Heinie Swarthout '30 with 74; Johnny Manser '27, 82; and Howie Mullin '27, 84. Kickers' prizes were donated by President Manser.
Lt. Dave Williams '35, Lt. Al Momenee '36, Lt. Bill Bachman '39, and Ens. Joe Mason '39 have all been here on recent leaves and have gone back to their posts. Staff Hudson '19, Fred Bornman 'si and Ford Whelden '25 are back in civilian clothes. Jim Tracy '36 came through town on his way to the Judge Advocate-General's O.C.S. in Ann Arbor.
Bob Meginnity '25 again donated his basement and trimmings for a meeting place of the Executive Committee. Plans for the year were discussed, and disposition of the scholarship funds was voted. With the lifting of the transportation bans, a long-desired mass trip to South Bend might be effected. The project is still being considered.
The service men stationed here for the war have left in large numbers. The newest names on the secretary's list are: Rt. Rev. Donald Aldrich '17; William F. Corregan '27; Capt. Robert K. Corwin '34.
Luncheons are still being held every Monday noon at the Olde Wayne Club. Visitors and returning service men are especially welcome.
