Dartmouth Night in New York was well attended by a group of Thirty-Two's: it was a small group but there are those who love them: Marv Chandler, Whit Daniel, Reuel Denney, Harry Litzenberger, and Howdy Pierpont. That last worthy, by the way, wouldn't mind getting your check for the class dues at your earliest convenience, as the correspondents say. Marv, who acted as reporter on this meeting, says there's nothing new with him: he is still hard at work with the Overseas Division of the Cayuga Construction Corporation, has two new acquisitions (labelled voluntary and involuntary, respectively): a pointer pup (v for voluntary) and a house (involuntarily bought in order to keep it from being sold over the Chandler family heads).

News of Lt. (jg) Don Richardson, aboard , FPO, Frisco, who told Marv he had quite a raft of pin-up boys, including a snapshot of Marv's boys, and another of Bob Kendal's son. Don couldn't say where he was, or what doing, except that they were comparatively inactive to date (December) which wouldn't last forever, and Don was sure they'd have their fill of it before long. He writes, "Until you get out here you can hardly realize the size of the job ahead. It is very discouraging to those of us who are hoping for a quick return0. " Don had run into John Couzens and Ed Miller, as well as several other Dartmouths, including Ace Phinney ('31), lately detached as executive officer of the ship. "Still well berthed and well fed; not enough exercise; strange to be swimming out of doors in December"—this was all Don could tell of his mode of life.

You can gather a clue as to the mode of life of George C. Sawyer, Box 444, Houlton, Maine, when you learn that last spring he was elected to senior membership in the Society of American Foresters, which puts George in the same slot with Paul Bunyan, and other arboreal greats. Bill Walton stomps snow off his rubbers before entering 903 Middle St., Portsmouth, N. H., or before entering the office of the President (He's it) of the New Hampshire National Bank. Besides fathering Barbara (8), Nancy (61/2). and twins Joan and Janice (21/2, Bill serves as Lt. (jg) USCG (Temporary Reserve), and is also on the OPA board. Got a match, Bill? Sounds as if you have your hands full.

A slight error in last month's column attributed news that Bill Harlow is a German Prisoner-of-War to Jim Wakelin as source. The news was kindly relayed by Howie Sergeant. Jim Wakelin is working at the Office of Coordinator of Research in Washington. No further news of Bill, but we all hope he'll be recaptured by Patton's gang, who can't get along without him very well.

Nice Christmas card from Jim Whiton, editor-extraordinary of the Denville (N. J.), Herald Jim notes difficulties in running his sheet, and although he has not yet had to print in a blizzard off the rear wheel of a Model T belted to the press through a hole knocked in the back wall, he figures he's getting pretty close to that nightmare situation: he printed the last four-page runwith nobody in the shop but one editor doubling as pressman, two women, one high .school and one junior high school boy. Jim's comment: "Wah-hoo-wah!"

Lt. Comdr. Art Allen wishes us all a V-mail Merry-Christmas-Happy-New-Year from the USS , Destroyer Escort on duty in Pacific waters, which are anything but pacific. Other recent promotions include Lt. Cmdr. Nate Pearson, and Capt. Johnny Titcomb. After a brief stint in the United States, Capt. Sey Rogers hopped off again to the other side of the world with his Evacuation Hospital. Bob Cochrane (SKV 3/c), FPO, San Francisco, is busy among the stinking islands where the Japs (as the boys call them) lie and lie and lie. Lt. Ned Rollins is on duty aboard on LCI in the same waters. Lieutenants Paul Fox and Bob Gould of the Navy have recently been heard from, but nothing special except new addresses. Ted Ellis is aboard with the 334 th Infantry.

I am much indebted to Chuck Hall (WPB) for news that Col. Jay Whitehair is located in the Pentagon and very busy, that Dave Castleman has been seen on Pennsylvania Ave., has been mustered out of the Army, is an attorney with OPA, and married a Hoosier girl in November. Chuck had dinner with Lt. (jg) John Zimmerman and Lt. Cmdr. Nate Pearson just before Nate left for the Coast with Admiral Ingersoll's staff. And Chuck is now the only representative of the forging industry with the WPB. Happy Valentine's Day!
