I'm beginning to £eel as though I'm back in the fold again, after having seen as many people as I have in the past month. Spent a week in Hanover with Ellie .... saw Johnny Rand, hard at wprk managing the DOC, and getting ready for "winter carnival." Steve Bradley was in town, said Dave was still with the medics at Camp Carson. Bob Lang hadn't gotten back, and no one had any word of him. Hans Barber and wife were on the street, preparing to leave town. They're back in Hartford now. Reno sent a card from Hanover, just before he was elected Carnival Queen.

The classes of '3B and '3.7 had a combined dinner at the Dartmouth Club in New York February 5. Plan to do the same thing every two months, which should make the next one around April 1. The '3Bs outnumbered our cohorts, and there were so many I couldn't keep track of all they were doing. I'm not even sure I got everyone present, but I saw Pat Gorman, Bob MacGregor, Sox Calder, George Buck, Bev Smith, "Wright Mallory, Muff Davis, Julie Westheimer, Tom Roberts, Tom Wilson, Jim Seaver, Joe Schaeffer, Ash Lans, George Nichols, Scott Runkle, Don Goodrich, Whitey Mays, Roy Duckworth, Larry Hull, Smith Campbell, Bob Ross, Bill Wischmann, Bill Heydt, Don Boyle, Dave Pallister, John Mayer, Jack Huck, Ray Harris, John Scotford, Herb Harries, Bill Guyther, Warren Flynn, Bob Frese, Syd Hogerton, Alex Jones, Fred Mayne, Dick Nelson, Howie Rea, Tom Richmond, Gerry Ullman, Ad Weiss, and I guess that's all I remember. Pat Gorman has his own corporation now—Motor Merchants, Inc., Newark, N. J., distributors for Kayser-Fraser cars. It sounds like a good set-up. Bob MacGregor is with the Advertising Dept. of Phoenix Mutual. Reports having seen Charlie Brown, wife and child, skiing in the Laurentians, intending to open up his law practice, probably in Gloversville. Says he saw Ben Lane on the Normandy beach, commanding an engineer company. Whitey Mays has joined the staff at Bates Fabrics in New York. Smith Campbell thought he would go out to the West Coast to open up his law practice, and among our stalwart lawyers, Howie Rea is in New York, also Dick Keresey with Cravath, Swaine & Moore. We saw him for a couple of hours in Montclair one evening. Also saw Earl Ward hard at work at Ward & Baird's in Hanover. Ran into Jack Stephens in the lobby of the Lake Shore A. C. in Chicago—in from Joliet with wife Mary for the night. He was just out of the Navy—as a matter of fact almost everyone I saw was still on terminal leave, except for Julie Westheimer (Major), who still had a couple of weeks to go. Dave Pallister was sporting an old-fashioned handlebar moustache. It was quite evident he wasn't ready to go back to work yet. Spoke to Mattimore for a few moments—he was rushing out for a date he'd arranged a month before, by correspondence, I'm sure.

Kathleen and Stu McWhood report the arrival of daughter, Lynn, 5 pounds, 10 ounces, on a December. Bunky Dunlap writes, "By this time Cecil MacKinnon (alias Sally) is four months old, weighed in at 9 pounds, 2 ounces on September 22. Clark Fletcher's new address is San Juan de Latran No. 9, Office No. 203, Mexico, D. F."

Art Koeppel: Out of the Army, he writes, "The reconversion period got off to a flying start on 3 November when the former Shirley Eileen Smith of Providence, R. I. (Rhode Island College of Education) became my better half." They went to Hanover, saw Alex Jones.... "I've forsaken the field of banking and am now with my uncle, E. J. Habrich, in the insurance business; also signed up for a course at Newark University. Saw Dune and Dorothy Dobie." From a special release:

Garden City, L. I Keith Van Buren Thorne entered civilian life on January 14 at Flushing Hospital's separation center after amassing a total of 8 pounds, 10 ounces of discharge points. Dr. Fred Carpenter, officer in charge of discharges, reported him in superior physical condition, with no immediate dental work required. The dischargee is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bliss Kirby Thorne, and after thorough briefing and a comprehensive orientation course will make his home with them. The" father, Mac Crocodile Thorne, is achieving a fair adjustment and may be back at work in a few weeks.

Promotions:—Capt. Henry Safford, Major Jul Westheimer, Lt. Comdr. Lew Parker, Major Bill Comfort, Lt. Lloyd Wurster, Lt. Comdr. Morg Marshall, Capt. Geo. Nichols, Lt. Comdr. Roge Baker and Capt. Dick Passmore. From Major George Dana, "Was with the Both Div. in Patton's 3rd throughout the war, arrived home Xmas Eve and walked in on a snappy looking 16-month-old daughter, whom I had never seen before—toddler Gracey. Plan to take more training in Internal Medicine." From Bob Cheheyl, "We (wife is Janet Ziegler, Wellesley '3B) had a son on October 20, Portsmouth Naval Hospital, 8 pounds, 5% ounces, and good-looking, too."

Art King has been working at Los Alamos, N. M., working on the atomic bomb. Lloyd Boutilier is a reporter with The Saratogian in Saratoga Springs, Wade Gayer a lawyer in Rochester, Lew Harriman with Manufacturers and Traders Trust in Buffalo, Bob Stix with Red Salmon Canning Cos. in Seattle, and Syd Francis with G.E. in Providence. Boit Wiswall, after 30 months overseas, is back in Wakefield, Mass. with wife Marion and daughter Andrea. Jim Tompkins (for 18 months over with A.M.G.) and Patricia Spore are engaged. She is of the University of Michigan, and teaching music. John McGreevy, as those of you who read Time may have noticed, is back at Dartmouth, after 56 months of flying—living in Fayerweather with wife. Len Gutner graduated December 22 from the Army's School of Neuropsychiatry at Mason General Hospital.

Plans for our Reunion for the weekend of July 12-13 are in swing now. If any of the details of what's going on have been missed, I refer you again to the February issue, for the dope that the College put out. Johnny Emerson is going to be chairman of the Reunion committee for our class, and you'll all be hearing from him soon. Save the weekend, and if possible, the week before or the week after, for a Hanover Holiday. Johnny is living in Hanover, and if you've got any hints, help to offer, etc., get in touch with him there—justaddressed Hanover, N. H. The important thing is for you all to be there. Soon the College will send you requests for room reservations. Fill them out and send them back. It will be the biggest ever. More next month.

A POSTWAR PROBLEM: Carl von Pechmann '3B, lately Captain, ponders what wax to use on his skis in the Hanover Inn Ski Hut, while his wife looks on. He is Secretary-Chairman of the Class of 1938.
