With this issue a new correspondent takes over the writing of this column. Jesse Chadwell, who has done such a swell job for the past three years of keeping the class together, graduated from college and is off for a tour of sea duty for the Navy. With this prospect he decided it would be best for someone on campus to temporarily take over his work with the understanding, of course, that it is his again as soon as he is able to handle it. The finger was pointed at me and I am more than happy to help out. However, I shall need all the assistance I can get and that means news from you fellows. Also pictures and lots of them! We can use pictures of you alone, in groups, and particularly we would like shots of you married folk with your wives.

The news this month is rather limited except for a few items, one of particular interest involving twenty-seven members of the class who graduated at the ceremony held Sunday, February 17. Eighteen were Navy Thayer School students (including Secretary Chadwell) who received diplomas and Naval Reserve commissions at the same time and who by the time this reaches you will be on their orientation cruise. They are ensigns but have put aside their braid until the cruise is over, at which time they will be ready to take over positions which their rank calls for. Five others of those who graduated were Marine trainees who also completed their Thayer School course and who by now have been commissioned second lieutenants in the Reserve and put on inactive duty status.

The four remaining men were wearing the traditional caps and gowns and in changing their tassels from the right side to the left likewise became alumni of Dartmouth College. To those members of the class of 1947 the heartiest of congratulations.

In the "Hearts and Flowers" department the engagements of two '47s were announced: Neil Callahan, recently discharged from the

Marines, to Miss Marie Patricia Walsh of Middletown, Conn., a WAVE of three years' standing; and Bill Callagy, ex-Navy V-12, to Virginia Elaine Cronin of Lawrence, Mass.

A lot of familiar faces should be .around this term—though a few like Bill Moran's will be missing—and we hope that a number of parties together will get us well along the road to a really unified, strong class on campus.

Don't be stingy, gang, let's hear from you!
