We have learned that the Bronze Star Medal was awarded to Steve Holmes for meritorious achievement prior to and during the action against enemy Japanese forces at Pelelieu and Ngesebus Islands, Palau Group, during the fall of 1944.

A letter from Rod Morgan tells us that he is. now out of the Navy and that his brother Rick expects to be discharged sometime this month. Also that he had recently heard from Ric Bradley, who was at the time stationed in New Orleans From Reid Hudgins, who was discharged from the Air Corps in February, comes a letter telling of his whereabouts and activities. He is now vice president and sales manager of the G. M. Williams Hardware Cos., in New London, Conn. He and wife Nan have a son, born last October Speaking of births, Ham Rowan and wife, formerly Jean Tanch, set some sort of record with the recent birth of their son at Mary Hitchcock Hospital, said to be the first child born in the hospital to the wife of an undergraduate in the College. At any rate, hearty congratulations are in order.

Among the '44s whose names have appeared recently on the Hanover Inn register are: Jim Dick, Cliff Baum, Dud Wilson, Bob Tompa, Ed Seidman and wife, Dave Ferguson, Bill and Mrs. Hinson, Randy Lomas, Charlie and Mrs. Ready, Bill Trease, Burgess Griffin, Roy Briggs, Taylor Pratt and wife, Gordie Ross, Dick Tarlow, Dick Murchie and wife.

Recent service promotions: Lt. (jg)s Jack Lawrence, Del Field, Walter Burke (inactive), and Hal Stein. Harold was recently married to Betty Lois Cashman of New York City, and a graduate of Hunter College.

There are any number of '44s populating Hanover these days. A partial list of these seen or heard of includes: Jack Schultz, Penn Frost, Bud Welch, Jack Stephenson, Charlie Pappas, Jim Mocas, Bill McCarthy, John Murphy, Mark Peisch and Rowley Musser. Lou Schott, we hear, is due back in June. Phil Brown and Bill Carey are back playing on the baseball team. Whitey Myers starred for the All-East basketball team which defeated the All-West aggregation in Madison Square Garden this past winter. Additions to the list of fellows back with wives are Digger Mac Donald and Jack Lovewell. Dave Blair is back and bolstering the track team. Jack Riley is already looking toward next hockey season which may possibly bring a Riley-Riley-Riley first line for Dartmouth; at least, so one of the latest field-house rumors has it A few '44s have been seen recently in line of Dick's House duty: Walt Prosser, Rudy Whitten, and Bill Reinman are the misfortunates to make this list.

In the Hearts and Flowers Dept.: Ray Hensler was married last February to Jeanne Mai Mailon of Bronxville. They are living in Hanover at present.

Fritz Witzel has taken on the job of Reunion chairman for our class and already is laying plans for a bang-up weekend on August 2, 3 and 4. He will greatly appreciate your writing him any suggestions you may have and, of course, to make reservations for the weekend. More detailed information regarding the weekend will shortly be sent out to you.
