Ren Ostrom, who by his own admission "still works eight hours a day in the salt mines and spends the other 12 at home with a crabby wife and four yelling kids," sent us one of his periodic west coast round-ups. To bring you the full flavor of Ren's reports—and yet spare ourselves from libel suits—we quote Ren directly:

"Bill Essex is still with occupation forces in Germany but has been joined by wife and two children. Understand he drinks nothing but champagne and lives in a castle over 8,092 years old! .... ChuckVenrick has been transferred to the glorious West Coast, but unfortunately to the middle of it. He lives in Piedmont—near Oakland which is near San Francisco which is 400 miles north of Los Angeles which is near La Canada where I live. We see each other often and Chuck, wife Louisa and daughter Betty are confirmed Westerners. Chuck is west coast manager for the American Locomotive Company. .... Bill Klingaman is finally getting married to a Baltimore lass—or at least he sent out invites to gather graft Joe Whitney has moved to La Canada where he is owner of a grand and glorious restaurant. Really a spot with fine eats but no liquor, so you wouldn't be interested Bob Morris is still lawing and politic-ing, though I believe his main source of revenue is derived from his poker at which he excells."

Hugh Chase recently returned from the American Zone in Germany, after two years there as an assistant Field Director, American Red Cross Dr. Tom Monagan has settled in Waterbury, with Mrs. M. and three children. He has had a pediatric practice there since July. From Stu Mac Mackin: "I have one wife (1942); one daughter (1944); one-tenth of a house (1946); one dog (1947). Spend time admiring my wife, being amazed at my daughter, painting the house, cleaning up after the dog. I also work in the Law Department of General Electric in Schenectady, where I worry about such things as what does the Taft-Hartley Bill mean, and how to protect poor little corporations against big bad working men. I don't make as much as a bricklayer, but I have more fun."

Ed Higbee reports that John Edward Higbee was born August 25 and is now in sole charge at 100 Washington St., Brighton 35, Mass Cherry Esther Johnson joined the Blake Johnsons on August 10 Paul Barrows Lynch, Jr. dropped in on Paul BarrowsLynch Sr. and Mrs. Sr. on May 20 Chuckand Mimi Sims had a daughter, Barbara, on August 8 George Young advises us of the arrival on August 21 of Geoffrey Clarke Young Joe Millimet claims that when Lisa Gray Millimet was born on July 21, she had much more hair than her daddy now has. ... .Bob and Tanna Fernald welcomed Carrol Elizabeth on August 11 Bud Horn's second child, a son, Granville Nichols, was born on August 27 And that's the way '36 has been helping the birth rate; we're certainly doing our share!
