Nat Batchelder of Keene, N. H., has been o-etting into condition for the spring golf tournament by brandishing a snow shovel at no infrequent intervals and with considerable regularity this winter. He feels now that a few blades of green grass will be a welcome sight. Any other 'O3 shovellers might drop Nat a line of commiseration.

And since this is the season of the year when the subject of snow is apropos, Fred Baker up in the North Country at Lancaster is having the time of his life—shoveling snow. Not only has he had to make a path through the flakes that the good Lord sends down, but living on the main road out of town, the state insists in throwing back all the snow covering the road right into his neatly shoveled path, thus making double exercise. In commenting on the retirement of so many of his classmates he says he doesn't dare think of retiring, for his office is his one haven—there he can rest.

At reunion Howard Ropes of Watertown, N. Y., showed some pictures taken in the winter o£ '46 in and about Watertown which would discourage either of the above shovellers; but then Howard has charge of the task of keeping the roads open, not the paths by the side of the road.

In an article in the Boston Herald of February 17, 1947, a splendid word was given for many of the officers of the Brookline, Mass., town government who have served the town for from 36—50 years, and of whom "never a breath of scandal or graft has been heard." Among them we read of our classmate, Secretary Herbert N. Bates of the Board of Assessors with a service of 48 years. Congratulations, "Bucky," and may you continue to serve for a long time.

Philip N. Jones of Boston is the proud grandfather of Bradshaw Nelson Dorsey, born February 17, 1947 The Alumni Record Office has sent me the following changed addresses: Ralph E. Lewers, 416 Ocean Ave., Brooklyn, N. Y., and John H. Kennedy, 1250 Northampton St., Holyoke, Mass.

The Dartmouth Alumni Association dinner in Boston, February 26, '47, went down in the records of the association as one of the best. The attendance, close to a thousand, the speaking and the Glee Club quintet left nothing to be desired. Those in attendance from "03 were Orvil Smith, Pip Howard, DickBrown, Vic Cutter, Dana Whipple, ChubbyEdwards and Ned Burbeck.

Bob Harding 'O5 told me at the Boston dinner that he had something fine for you at the 5-Year Class Dinner at Schrafft's in May. Bear it in mind.
