SUNNY DAY, handy spot, swell food, decent price, convenient hour we didn't have a single alibi for a flop on the February 28th premier of the Hollywood monthly luncheon series. Fortunately, no alibi was needed, for 48 good alumni handed their money to Bob Guggenheim '33 at the gate of the Knickerbocker's Lido Room, and we got off to a hot start on a fast track.

Jim Norton, Eck Heistand, Sam Hobbs, President John Lyman, and perennial Secretary Leon Rothschild of the downtown gang came out to give us their blessing, and Jack Rourke '40, as M.C., kept the waiting timeclocks in mind and rolled matters at an appropriate pace. Jack Reeder '25, Disney Exec V.P. in charge of hot corners, held down the tabloid speaker's spot interestingly, though only after his henchmen Dewitt Jones '40 had distributed Disney comic books to, (I quote Reeder) "give you guys something to do while I talk."

Subsequent luncheons will be held on the fourth Friday of each month (jot it on your desk calendar) at the Lido room of the Knickerbocker promptly at noon. Speakers so far lined up to talk briefly about interesting facets of their work include Arthur Hornblow '14 and Walter Wanger '15, films; Charlie Starrett '26, oat operas; Paul Weston '34, radio and recorded music; Tom Lane '35, the mass migration of United Drug; others are on the hook.

While we've got you, jot these future dates: the Annual Dinner in late April, followed by the annual Penn-Cornell-Dartmouth all-day shindig in Elysian Park June 14. In the meantime, the weekly downtown luncheons every Tuesday noon at the Savoy Hotel and the next Hollywood monthly luncheon on the fourth Friday. See you there.
