Sydney Rollins is to be married on May 31 to Sherwood Badmington of Newport, N. H. Syd's a grand girl who began boosting the Rollins athletic reputation in baseball in her high school days when Sid reached the point where he needed a putter to get a ball from the pitchers' box to first base. She attended St. Mary's in the Mountains with our daughter Deborah, interested herself in nursery school work and instructing athletics and skiing, spent some time in the services during the war and has been getting practical experience for housekeeping on her own by rearranging the Rollins' household while Sid and Louise were getting sun ray treatments in Florida which they thoroughly enjoyed.

April 7 Matt Bullock was the visiting speaker at a joint meeting of the Rotary and Kiwanis clubs of Concord at the Eagle Hotel. As always his remarks and conclusions are sound. The Manchester Union said:

"The United States can never fulfill its responsibility as a world leader until it solves its own racial problems, Atty. Matthew W. Bullock, chairman of the Massachusetts Parole Board, told a joint meeting of the Rotary and Kiwanis clubs.

"The former Dartmouth college athlete, declaring that we have the finest country in the world, said that there are large racial groups in the United States, who despite their achievements in building the country, still have the feeling they are not wanted.

"The speaker cited the Nuerenberg trials and what they brought to light as misuse of achievements by Europe as it came out of the Dark Ages. Stating that his parents were slaves, Attorney Bullock said that the slave trade was much sought after by every European country at one time or another as it rose to power.

"Although the Negro problem, is remote from New Hampshire, the speaker concluded New Hampshire people must give it thought and instruct their leaders in Washington to work for equal rights for all peoples."

Matt is a prominent working member of the New England group headed by Dr. Lewis Perry retired, of Phillips Exeter, who are making the appeal to New England for a $50,000.00 contribution to the United Negro College Fund campaign working toward the national goal of $1,300,000.

The class was represented at the Winchester funeral service for Bill Kneeland on March 6 by Sexton, Bullock," Maguire, Slayton and Lampee.

You will serve yourselves, and the other classes who were in college with lis, will be attending the 01-02-03-04-05 annual meeting and dinner at Schraffts, West Street, Boston, on May 9. It's the best party get-together of Dartmouth products yet discovered.

Sure I'll report on the 19th hole, says Sid.

A LAMENT AND A PROMISE

No jealous pals of ninteen four Struck the Gulf Coast's sunny shore No hypocrite, in temperance role, Joined me at the nineteenth hole, With Ned way off Bermuda way And Hayward settled at Del Ray, Pen, at swank Palm Beach agin, John Fellows at the Gulf View Inn; They all forsook me, not a soul Joined me at the nineteenth hole, No friendly face showed at the bar Nor called me at the Mira Mar, So next year, if you'll look me up I promise now, a stirrup cup.
