This is October 29—but since I'll not be writing you again 'till January 10 —I take this opportunity to wish for each of you and your loved ones A Merry Xmas and Happy New Year.
53rd Annual roundup, the night before the Harvard game, was a nice little party — just a dozen of us — Squid, Sex,Matt, Robbie, Ike C., and Ike M., Pen,Frank, Pat, Carl, Al Terrien and Beck. We held it in the sacred precinct of the Cabots and Lodges-at the Union Club. Beck had an address book. Every living member of the class was mentioned and sincere interest and regard was expressed for each classmate as his name was read off. Not too much news was gathered about the gang. We were sorry to learn of the illness of Tinker Gale. Rosy was on his way to Clearwater, Fla., to be soon followed by Ned Bartlett who has a lovely home in Sarasota. Sid was patching up his house for winter and, as usual, standing around to see the other fellow do the work. Johnnie Fletcher sent his greetings from the southland, Herbie Andrews and LesterAmes were getting in the cattle for winter. Sam Wing said hello from Burlington, but Perce Hobbs & Myron didn't get around to send a card. Artie Bolser is feeling better but has to take it easy at his home in Nashua; greetings also came from Charlie Tubbs,Owen Burdett and Bill Slayton. Edge says he is about 89% back from his fall. TomStreeter sent his regrets as did Amasa Bowles,Charlie Davis, Peacham, Mose, Withey, LeonWebster and Bill Young.
Sally Johnson had the ladies join her at the Parker House. Hope Robinson, Marion Woods, Lucy Maguire, Anna Uniac and Ann Manning were at the party. They had a happy time together. It certainly was fine to see Mrs. Uniac and Mrs. Maguire. We hope they join us often.
Henry Hall says he is too young yet to be turned out to pasture and keeps busy with his connection in the Hartford office of the American Optical Company.
Pat Manning has been a practicing physician for over 50 years and is a busy doctor. He is a lucky man to have a wife like Ann to take care of him.
Sorry I haven't any news of the gang from west of the Mississippi. You know, fellows, it doesn't cost any more to send a letter east than we have to pay in New England. Your Secretary would be glad to publish a Western Edition. Again Merry Xmas and Happy New Year.
Since these notes were prepared and typed - word has reached me this morning from Perce Hobbs that our classmate Tinker Gale passed away Oct. 30. His obituary will appear later. Hotel man, town official, representative and Senator to the New Hampshire Legislature; Trustee of Brewster Academy Tinker had many interests, all of which he served well. Loved, trusted, respected — we shall miss our classmate, Tinker Gale.
