Although the majority of our readers will probably not be giving much thought to hockey when this communication reaches them in sultry July, nevertheless it is pleasant to recall some of the highlights of this extraordinarily successful season. The annual hockey dinner was held late in May amid an atmosphere of great festivity at the Outing Club House and featured several events of interest to followers of the ice sport. First, charms were distributed to all letter-winners of the aggregation which won the American Intercollegiate Championship and tied Toronto for the International Intercollegiate Championship. Second, the Robert E. Mulhern Trophy (in honor of Robert E. Mulhern '44, who lost his life as a pilot in the Air Corps) was awarded to Bruce Mather, center of the famed Warburton-CunliffeMather line. Third, the captain for the next year's sextet was elected in the person of William Joseph (Bill) Riley, brother of Jack Riley, who captained the team during the latter part of the season this winter. The feature of the ceremonies was the individual appreciation extended each member of the squad by the genial mentor, Eddie Jeremiah, who went down the line and gave a brief sketch of the activities of every man. With all these things to be happy about, a good time was naturally had by all.

THE WINNERS AND STILL CHAMPIONS: Dartmouth's 1947 edition of the varsity lacrosse team poses for its squad picture after winning the New England intercollegiate lacrosse title. Under Tommy Dent's canny tutelage, it hung up an undefeated league record and over all won ten and lost only three.
