The Clubhouse opened its doors for the first scheduled all-Dartmouth party of the fall season, when Dartmouth Night was celebrated, preceding the Colgate game, on October 15.
Maurice Dampier '43, who is again heading up the entertainment activities at the Club this year, rounded up two headliners for the occasion. Al Foley '2O, popular raconteur and professor of history, gave an "on campus" view of the Hanover scene. Eddie Chamberlain '36, Assistant Director of Athletics, highlighted the 1948 football picture and talked about prospects for the Big Green this year. Singing and "curbstone chorus" as usual.
Plans for later-season activities are still in a formative stage, but Dampier says that definitely there will be a Tom & Jerry party at the Club on the afternoon of New Year's Eve. Also, Saturday afternoon cocktail parties —so successful last year—will be resumed monthly, starting in January.
The Squash Season will start October 20. The Dartmouth Club will be represented again this year by at least one team in the regular Metropolitan League matches. Captain Ort Hicks '21 says that he is expecting all of last year's regulars to be back in the courts again, as well as a large turn-out of new players this year. Players wishing to try out for the team matches should contact Kieth Anderson '39.
Newcomers living at the Dartmouth Club are: Jim O'Neil '46, C. A. Gibbons '42, E. J.Hansen Jr. '42, A. H. Gedney '46, H. Bennett '46, Ted Lapres Jr. '42, and C. M. Campbell '46.
