THE REV. GEORGE KALBFLEISCH of Philadelphia, Pa., formerly assistant director of the Department of Young People's Work, Board of Christian Education of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., has been appointed secretary of the Dartmouth Christian Union by President Dickey. The position was recently authorized by the Trustees.
Assuming his duties in Hanover on January 1, Mr. Kalbfleisch was a Naval chaplain during the war, serving two years on shore duty and two years with the Marine Corps in the Solomon Islands and the Philippines. A graduate of Elmhurst College, he also studied at the Evangelical and Reformed Seminary in St. Louis. Following his ordination he served for two years as student pastor at Elmhurst.
In Europe when war broke out in 1939, Mr. Kalbfleisch worked with the antiNazi German underground in Pomerania and the Polish Corridor. When Poland fell, he worked his way south to Italy and eventually obtained passage on an American freighter at a French port.
