PRESUMABLY IT DOES NOT HAPPEN OFTEN. When a rival college alumni group contributes to the Dartmouth Alumni -Fund the fact should not only be properly recorded, but a certain amount of ballyhoo is warranted. When we met with the Cornell men to receive a wire report of the game, each man put up a dollar—the fund to be mailed to the college of the winning team. So the Alumni Fund may thank the football team for a certain contribution which was sent from Milwaukee last fall.

The Monday luncheon at the Astor on Dec. 29 was a decided success. There were about twelve undergraduates and twenty-four alumni present. The percentage of undergraduates may indicate that they read their mail a little more carefully than the alumni! The "Great Issues" course, athletics, Carnival, Hanover weather all provided interesting discussion. We are glad to hear that Herb West'22 has improved and hope that his health continues to be good.

Brad Brown '28, our president, is commuting daily between Milwaukee and Chicago and still preserves his fresh-as-a-daisy look. "Swede" Swenson '23 came down from Sheboygan for the luncheon with his son John '50. "Freddy" Frederickson '21 drove in from Madison. Bob Niss '40 is in the furniture business, but his real love is ties. They're worth coming miles to see. He never disappoints you. James E. Schwedland '48 saw Dartmouth for the first time when he was in a V-12 unit. Now he's so sold on the school that I think his grandchildren (in due time) will be Dartmouth men!
