Once again, it's time for the family and friends portion of Class Notes. Fear not, those of you who (like me) are still single and professing to love it—not everyone in our class is married or engaged to be married. It only seems that way.

Christine Mitchell Nasef has given up her "life of crime and corruption in the theater" in NYC to marry Dr. Mohamed Nasef, and they recently had a son, Iyad. She is staying home with the child while they determine whether to stay in the Big Apple or move elsewhere (including Cairo, Egypt—Mohamed's home).

With Alison Dickinson in the house as the maid of honor, Gretchen Roush married Jon Jackson in October in Texas. And how cool is this—both Grechen and Jon are attorney captains in the Army Judge Advocate General's Corps. That's right, THEY ARE JAGS! Of course, I've never watched the actual TV show, but it still seems cool. Gretchen also expressed sentimentality for New England when she e-mailed me. It was -13 degrees and blustery winds when I got it. Trust me, Gretchen, youreally DON'T know what you're missing!

Angela Dadak married Jeff Middents '93, and they spent some time near his family in Lima, Peru, where he also researched his dissertation on Peruvian cinema. In January they moved back to Michigan, where she worked on a conference that restaged and reexamined the Polish Round Table of 1989. Angela got back into the States—Hanover, even!-in September for Becca Sullivan's wedding to Stefan Voelker. Among those in attendance were Heather Sanborn, LisaWolff, Carl Seglem, Jeff Bird, Jeff Cobb, and Ellen Reed. Rebecca actually went above and beyond, in my opinion, flying to Freiburg, Germany, for an eight-week intensive course in German so that she could communicate with Stefan's family. Like anyone ever wants to talk to the in-laws! Becca called it "her LSA, eight years late." Now they are living just outside of Chicago.

Christine Greenhow e-mailed in from Harvard, where she is a doctoral student working with technology and education after a stint teaching English at a high school south of Boston. This past summer she ran in the Reykjavik Marathon (that would be in Iceland, people). She would love to hear from any other recent alums in the Harvard/Newton area. Finally, give a rouse to Allegra Kochman, who managed to "flummox" (their word, not mine) both the F.Y.I, staff of The New York Times and the research staff at the New York Public Library with a question about the purpose of the doors between the arched windows of the library's main reading room. Ah, Allegra, the things you think about as you eat lunch in Bryant Park, eh?

Until next month, my friends.
