This month there comes a letter from DickPaul, who writes that he occasionally sees John Vartdegrift, who is studying law in Washington, as well as Harry Semmes '43 and Ollie Quayle '42. Dick himself is recuperating from injuries sustained in a jeep accident while on maneuvers with the Brazilian Army as a representative of the U. S. Army. He plans to return to Rio de Janeiro soon in this same capacity, which is apparently most interesting duty Bob Rader writes from Summit, N. J., that he is the father of a ond daughter, Kathryn Elisabeth, 9 lbs. He adds, just a trace enviously, that Jack Landon and Ab Davis are both recent fathers of boys. .... Also that Jim Bodine is working for Merck & Co. in Rahway, N. J JohnLesher was accidentally wounded in the head on a hunting trip in Maine during Christmas vacation. According to our newspaper source, the wounds were not critical John Pine is an instructor in history at Hastings College, having received his Master's Degree in History from the Univ. of Chicago in 1947. .... Don Hinkley is with Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati Dave Spencer is a Navy doctor, stationed at the Navy Air Station Dispensary, Norfolk, Va Len Landry is a graduate preceptor at Colgate Univ., devoting half his time to guidance of freshmen and sophomores and half to graduate study. During the war he was with the 10th Mt. Div. and received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart with an oak leaf cluster.

Hearts and Flowers: Marvelene Nash and Dick Whiting were married in Washington last month. They are living in New Haven, where Dick is attending Yale Law School. The following engagements have been announced recently: Bessie Keith of Pasadena, Calif., to Brand Beacham, who is now attending Ellwoods School of Writing, Hollywood, after a year with the Pasadena Playhouse; Barbara Turner of Norwich, N. Y., and George Ives, who is at Cornell Law School; Barbara McBride of Framingham, Mass., and Len Kokins; Janet Kiser of Governors Island, N. Y-, and John Billington; Eleanor Harris of Glen Rock, N. J., and Bob Sundblad; Elizabeth Zentgraf of Newark, N. J., and Al Rose, who is with the Cross Co. of Detroit.
