THE ST. LOUIS DARTMOUTH ALUMNI ASSOCIATION has spent the time since the annual dinner, recuperating. Several members have been able to sit up and take solid food at our regular Thursday luncheons, while others are evidently still confined to a liquid diet. We have not seen them around. One direct result of the annual dinner was that we were able to enjoy more of Bob Turner's '33 company, as he sacrificed the front end of his automobile in an effort to pick up Professor Chan at the airport on a snowy night. Bob didn't get to the airport, but he did get to the next luncheon, while his car was being put together again. For people who remember that there were two Bob Turners in the Class of 1933, this is not the one who got the 4.o's.
Among the more or less regular attenders at the Thursday luncheons, in the back room of Gerken's Buffet, 321 Olive St., "where the elite meet to eat," have been Leigh Turner '04, Dick Meyers '35, Ernest "Jack" Merrill '30, Jimmy Jones '38, Bill Rench '34, Russ Fette '39, Tom Curtis '32, Sparky Adams '43, Gerry Peterson '43, and Howie Mullin '27. Sometimes even Ted Thompson '32 or Ed Grace '38 shows up. We used to see quite a bit oF Bill Chapman '35 before, rumor hath it, his bank started serving free lunches to its executives. A frequent visitor is Don Otis '37, executive officer of the local recruiting station. He has not tried to sign up any of the Gerken circle for obvious reasons. A visiting fireman from Chicago, Bo Kreer '35, showed up recently, evidently not being scared away by the exterior of our meeting place.
