A recent report from Cragin, who is in his 90th year, says that he suffers severely from arthritis and is almost completely confined to .his room. His 89th birthday was the occasion of a family gathering with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. With Mrs. Cragin and himself, there were 14 members of the immediate family in attendance. November 29, 1947 was their 61st wedding anniversary.
When this is in print Mrs. Austin and the secretary will be in their summer home at Warner, N. H. They are planning to start their trip over the road May 3. They are very pleasantly located in St. Petersburg, but the hills of New Hampshire have a greater attraction than the flat reaches of Florida. The Florida climate from November to May is as fine as one could wish, and it is not to be wondered at that the tourist crop is the banner crop of the state. The winter visitors this past season, according to the figures released by the Chamber of Commerce for the city of St. Petersburg, have been 6.65% below last year's total of 46,218, but well ahead of the 42,853 of the season of 1945-1946.
Weeks still enjoys his daily walks and rejoices that the streets of New York are back in usable condition. If anyone should inquire as to his politics he will say that he expects to help elect a Republican president in November.
