Dr. Edwin P. Buchanan, Edwin Bayley's son-in-law, died on July 11 at the former Bayley home in Beverly, Mass., which has been the Buchanan summer home. Dr. Buchanan was a prominent surgeon in Pittsburgh, Pa., - for many years a professor of surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. Surviving are his wife, Marion Bayley Buchanan, four children and three grandchildren.

Prof. Beatrice Allard Brooks spent the summer in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where her son Frank joined her for his vacation.

The secretary and Mrs. Austin, who spent the summer quietly at their home in Webster, N. H. (P. O. Warner), enjoyed calls from several Dartmouth friends: John Brooks with Mrs. Brooks and daughter Elizabeth were driven over from Eliot, Maine, by Joseph Hobbs '99; Frank E. Cudworth '01 and Mrs. Cudworth stopped on their way from Hanover to Poughkeepsie, N. Y., via Chelmsford, Mass., where they helped celebrate the tercentenary of that town; and when Walter Rowe '90 was visiting his brother, Brainard Rowe '97, in the nearby village of Warner, they drove over to extend Dartmouth greetings. The summer also brought frequent visits from the whole Austin family, which now includes four great grandchildren, with the sex equally divided.
