THE PICTURE reproduced on Page 28 of our May issue, taken by A. Burton Street '18 and showing Malcolm Decker of Dartmouth leading three Yale milers in the indoor meet at New Haven, was used as the cover picture for the April YaleAlumni Magazine. The May issue of Y.A.M., as it likes to be called, carried the following editorial comment on the temerity of that cover selection:

"Our April cover showed five Yale and Dartmouth milers competing in last winter's indoor track meet. Unfortunately for our editorial peace of mind, a Dartmouth runner happened to be ahead at the moment the photograph was taken. With their blood pressures mounting near the danger point, a whole squad of former Eli milers put on their spikes again and jogged up to New Haven to protest. Some of them were mollified when we turned to the picture on page 14 showing Yale's George Wade beating Dartmouth's Malcolm Decker at the finish of the same race. But the others, winded but still vocal, insisted on knowing why anybody in his right mind would take a picture while Dartmouth was ahead. We had an answer: the photographer who covered the track meet for Y.A.M. is a Dartmouth man.

"The same photographer took the picture on this issue's cover in the court of Pierson College. There's a girl in the picture. Don't ask us what she's doing there or how she got there—we don't know. All we can tell you is that the photographer, A. Burton Street, assures us that she's not from Dartmouth."
