Class Agent, ALAN W. BRYANT 1121 Park Sq. Bldg., Boston 16, Mass.

Old Whitey has been catching it on the chin but good, so if anybody has a slightly used catcher's mitt send it along. My answer to the whole thing is that from now on the space will be filled if it's necessary to repeat the Lord's prayer for filler.

Sey Ochsner reports on the doctors of our class in a much appreciated letter:

"My excuse for writing this letter, if one is needed, is not that I want to make you work on that column for the MAGAZINE, when you have long since proved that you can get away with fewer paragraphs than any previous secretary felt bold enough to do. Rather it's because I have news!

"Her name is Diana Fiske Ochsner, born Sept. 30, 1948. So now Helen and I have two children, two girls.

"I do not limit my practice of medicine to the female of the species, but it does seem that I so limit my parenthood. This is not being done in order to break Eddie Cantor's record of five: nor is it done purposely to lose the future problem of the admissions office of Dartmouth College. Indeed I might say that when I have nightmares I usually seem to see my daughters married to Yale men—in which case, of course, all will have been in vain."

(For sending this and the following news, Sey, your secretary will be happy to pass along a nonmedical man's private formula for sons, such is the depth of gratitude every letter received invokes.)

"Well, let's see if I have any more news items," Sey continues.

"Dr. Donald E. O'Brien: I ran into him in Chicago in June. He is married and has a little daughter named—you'd never guess it—Bridget. If one must be Irish, I suppose the whole hog is better than none. Don's wife is a peach, and we had a lot of expensive fun at the Blackstone Hotel. O'Brien only mingles with the Chicago uppercrust, as his partner in medicine is the President-elect of the American Medical Association. I'm sure that only his ulcers keep Don from going brokeat least if he goes to the Blackstone very often!

"Doctor Colin S. MacCarty: he hits the medical headlines once in awhile, and I think the class should be more aware of how very well some of its physicians and surgeons have done in the scant 10 years since college days. Colly is a brain surgeon, on the staff of Mayo Clinic, and he has published some very fine articles-on the work he is doing Two other classmates whose work I've recently seen published are Chick Koop, who is the chief surgeon at Children's Hospital, Phila., and John Schilling, who is on the staff of the University of Rochester Medical School. These men, and many others, are doing splendid work; and I can't help feeling that it might be interesting some year to limit the bulk of one month's notes to each of several professions—medicine, law, teaching, at cetera, for several months. "That's all tonight. At last I feel that I have added a few lines to your dragnet."

Giles St. Clair also hopes to mend the net with these words:

"I hope some of the guys are going to wake up pretty soon. Most of them seem to be sitting on their tongues and leaving you out on a limb for mail.

"I don't have any news, but I'm writing anyhow to help out. I've meant to write for a long time. I'm sure there is no law against a bull session through the column.

"I think we had the best reunion last June that any class ever had. So far the only thing I've done about it is to try and talk every fellow from '38 I see into going up this year. For a minute I wish I were in '38 so that I could have another chance right away. We ought to have a "St. Clair Plan"a reunion every year.

"I don't often run into anyone from the class. Maybe it's because running a drug factory takes too much of my time. I don't even belong to the Dartmouth Club in New York because my brother-inlaw is a trustee of Princeton and makes me think I'm trying to come in the back door. The only time I've been there I came in the Park Avenue side and ate in the Princeton Lady's dining room

"We did have some swell meetings at the Club before reunion last year, so there have been exceptions.

"Maybe it's up to me to call class meetings in New York. However I was too much underage when I graduated and feel like a hanger-on to this day .

"Do you ever hear from Skip Browns (Christmas cards and vital announcements, Giles—Ed.)

"I have a wife and two swell boys. Both of them are entered in Episcopal High School at Alexandria Va., and Dartmouth. The oldest is now eight and the youngest three.

"I've been working for the same company tor 10 years and was given a quinine plant to set up and run.

"Will bring my eight-year-old to Hanover this year to further solidify the idea of his going to Dartmouth and to see the place again myself. It they won't have a reunion each year, I'll have one of my own."

We'll be most happy to join you, Giles. They'll need a tent to hold us if we can convince Art Guyer to join us.
