purHere's a review of the summer activities, July through September.

OUTING AND GOLF TOURNAMENT (July) The July event was an all day Outing held at the beautiful and spacious Dedham Country and Polo Club, Dedham. Gordon Wentworth '40 chairman of the event planned a full day. Some more energetic golfers started in the morning and played 36 holes. Others came about noon to play 18 holes, while many played tennis, ping-pong, and horseshoes. About 5:30 P.M. singing started at the 19th hole. This was followed about 8:00 P.M. by a dinner that was really delicious. After the meal, many stayed for more singing, cards, etc.

NORTH SHORE CLAMBAKE (August)

Well over 400 alumni and their wives tended the August event, a real old-fashioned New England Clambake, jointly sponsored by the North Shore Dartmouth Club and the D.A.A. of Boston. The Clambake was held at the Thompson Club, Nahant on Saturday, August 6. Afternoon festivities included swimming, tennis, horseshoes, and a soft ball game.

The presence of Roland "Pierre" Booma '30 as head chef guaranteed another gastronomical success. Assisting him in the capacities of corn huskers, clam diggers, claw crackers and keg tappers were a galaxy of North Shore notables including Ed Butterworth '30, Bill Welch '23, Mai McLean '3l, Randy Cox '23, Jack Read '23, Halsey Mills '23, Ed Carroll '30 and Frank Edmands '45. Evening activities included dancing and singing. At the end of the day, the general concensus of opinion was that the affair was a "howling" and complete success.

at FOOTBALL KICK-ON DINNER (September)

Over 600 Alumni of Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Dartmouth got together at the Harvard Club in Boston, September 27, for a "Cocktails and Chowder Kick-Off Dinner. Festivities started at 5:30 P.M. and wound up about 10:00 P.M. First on the program were cocktails and a general get-together followed by chowder, apple pie, crackers and cheese, and coffee. The Harvard Band supplied the music and included among their selections a medley of Dartmouth songs. Leading sportswriters gave their prognostications and told anecdotes.
