Here's a review of Boston activities: October 9, Holy Cross Game Two special trains were organized leaving from Boston and Worcester to take all the alumni interested up to the game. Dining car service and reserved coach seats were available.
October 23, Harvard Weekend Buffet Supper and Dance—This affair turned out to be one of the most successful run by the Boston Alumni Association is recent years. Over 1500 attended the dance, and over 300 the Buffet Supper preceding it. During the intermission a group of eight representatives from the Glee Club sung several numbers including the most popular Dartmouth songs. The music supplied by the Marshard organization was excellent. Oldsters and youngsters both enjoyed it because of its variety and color. Alumni from all age groups and classes were in evidence, although younger graduates and undergraduates predominated.
A large share of the credit for this swell affair goes to the hard working committee consisting of: Chairman Stan Priddy '43, GeorgeFuller '23, Dick Hill '41, and Don Miller '43.

The 1948 program of the Boston Alumni Association has been extensive and continuous. There has been at least one event every month. In 1949 we will be able to continue such a program only if the members vote for it by paying their dues. Most of the Association's receipts come from dues; most of the expenditures are for printing, addressing, postage and tickets, and for the permanent D.A.A. of Boston Headquarters.
This Headquarters, new in 1948, was financed in its initial year by a small group of sponsors; in 1949 the cost must be borne by the Alumni Association in general. The Headquarters was established for the purpose of serving as a liaison center between the College, the D.A.A. of Boston, and the Alumni and 3,000,000 people of greater Boston. It has served that purpose well.
In 1948, your officers selected activities that would be of interest to as many men as possible, and these affairs were held in various suburbs so that as many as possible could attend without inconvenience. The price of these activities was set as low as possible to insure that members of recent classes could attend. However, the quality was not impaired by cutting corners too closely. This made budgeting difficult. Money from dues balances the books. Payment of dues insures an active, vigorous Association program that you can be proud of —one that you and your family and friends will enjoy.
ALUMNI CLUB OFFICERS IN LAWRENCE, MASS.: Reelected at the annual dinner of the club in October were (left to right): Assistant District Attorney Albert P. Pettoruto '38, treasurer; Rev. Clinton W. Carvell, president; Geoffrey Glendinning '28, secretary; and Richard J. Sullivan '2B, vice president.
