Most of us 19ers are pretty busy these days but among the busiest must be Phil Watson in Detroit. Outside of being a V.P. and director of Campbell McCarty & Co., investment securities, Phil is knee-deep in Dartmouth activities. He has charge of all applications in Michigan for next fall's freshman class (1953 to you), is working on the Hopkins Building Project, and recently was made Chairman of the prospective 1950 "Pow-Wow" to be held in Detroit when Dartmouth plays Michigan at Ann Arbor on October 7.•Staff Hudson, our other 'iger in Detroit, is helping Phil and, claims they will make the "Pow-Wows" in Chicago in 1926 and 1929 look like also-rans. Thanks for the nice note, Staff.
Nick Sandoe belongs high on the list of busy classmates. He is one of New York's top flight patent attorneys, and in addition to his work, finds time to head up the House Committee at the Dartmouth Club, acts as President of the Pelham (NY) Community Chest and is very active in the World Federalists, being chairman of the Westchester County Chapter. Ken Huntington reports hearing him speak before 4,000 earnest "wishers for peace" in the County auditorium in White Plains, one of a distinguished group of speakers. Young Nick Sandoe has recently joined the College staff as fund-raising assistant to George Colton.
Howie Boulton has recently been appointed Justice of the District Court of Western Worcester (Mass.). Congratulations, Howie, and thanks for the nice letter. Lew Garrison is responsible for the birthday cards and the class seems to like them.
One of the more important duties of the Alumni is interviewing candidates for admission to the College, and 1919, as usual, is playing a vital role in this work. The following men are chairmen of the interviewing committees in their respective localities and there are doubtless other 'lgers helping out: JohnCarr (Maine), Howie Cole (Boston), Don Finlayson (Ithaca, N. Y.), Ken Gilchrist (Conn.), Murray Hawkins (Cal.), Bill Hooven (N. J.), Jack Mc Crillis (N. H.), Jack Reilly (Mass.), San Treat (N. Y.), Jim Wilson (Ohio), and the afore-mentioned Phil Watson (Mich.).
Inadvertently, the names of the wives attending their pre-Harvard game "doe" dinner were omitted from the December issue. This event was a most important part of the pre-game festivities and one we hope will be continued. Helen Bird ran the affair and Mary Davis, Betty Clark, Esther Mc Crillis, Madeline Havlin, Bea Martin, Jane Balch, Mildred Chipman, Madeline Collins, Alice Earl Hayes and Mildred Rand helped make it a big success.
Batch is trying to make up a roster of Class officers from graduation to date, and there are a few vacant spots in the list. Would the vice president and treasurer in 1922-24 and the president and vice president in 1924-1929 kindly come forward and report to either Batch or the secretary so that we can complete the record?
The New York Times of December 20 re- ports a meeting with Governor Dewey of six representatives of industry regarding a program to extend unemployment insurance benefits to include sickness and disability. Among the six was our own Jim Capps of Utica, as president of the Empire State Association of Commerce,—another busy member of the Class.
Another Father and Son Dinner and Gettogether is tentatively scheduled for the weekend of February 26. Keep that date free.
