SEVERAL VACANCIES THROUGH expiration of second and final terms as district members of the Alumni Council will be filled this spring in the annual process of nominating and electing new members. In some other cases present incumbents are eligible for reelection, having completed only one term of service.
According to constitutional provisions, nominations are made by alumni clubs and associations in the seven Council districts of the country. Secretaries of all alumni groups have been notified of vacancies in their districts. There is also a means of submitting nominations from any group of one hundred or more graduates of the College as explained below. Wherever more than one nomination is made from a district, to all graduates of the College in that section.
The length of term is two years for district representatives. The limit of two successive terms is placed on service in order to provide for membership on the Alumni Council by some number of alumni over a period of years.
VACANCIES THIS YEAR
The Secretary of the College, Sidney C. Hayward '26, announces the following vacancies in each of the seven Alumni Council Districts of the country:
In the New England States District two terms expire this year. John G. Nelson '13 of Manchester, N. H., is not eligible for reelection since this is his second two-year term of office. In the other vacancy in District I, Charles B. Rice '23 of Hartford, Conn., is eligible for reelection to a second term.
In the Middle Atlantic States District two final terms expire this year. Roswell Magill '16 of New York City and Hugh A. Johnson '30 of Buffalo, N. Y., are not eligible for reelection having completed two terms.
In the Central States District Robert C. Borwell '25 of Chicago completes his first term and is eligible for reelection.
In the Middlewestern States District two final terms expire this year. Francis A. Robinson '08 of Des Moines and Arthur S. Dunning '11 of St. Paul are not eligible for reelection having completed two terms.
In the Southern States District Frederick L. Pearce '15 of Washington, D. C., and William H. Marsh Jr. '31 of Atlanta are not eligible for reelection having completed two terms.
In the Southwestern States District there are two members of the Council whose terms expire June 30. Both Merrill E. Shoup '21 of Colorado Springs and George J. Winger '25 of Kansas City are completing first terms and are therefore eligible for reelection.
In the Western States District Walter D. Douglas 2nd 31 of Los Angeles is eligible for reelection to a second term.
METHOD NATION
According to Article V, Section 3, of the Alumni Council constitution, nominations beyond those ..submitted by approved alumni clubs may be made as follows:
The Secretary of the General Associationof Alumni shall publish in the ALUMNI MAGAZINE not later than the February issuea statement of the vacancies, if any, to befilled the ensuing July 1. In addition to themethod of making nominations throughlocal alumni clubs and associations as explained above, it will be possible for anygroup of 100 alumni qualified to vote inthe Alumni Council election of that yearto petition the Secretary in favor of a properly qualified nominee, the petition tocarry the endorsement of the candidatewhose name will then appear on the election ballot of that district. Such nominations must be received by the Secretary ofthe General Association not later thanApril 10.
