New organization, new name, new officers, new committees, new faces, and news direct from Hanover, but still the same soul satisfying feeling when "good fellows get together' for a Dartmouth party. The Great Divide alumni assembled February 1 at Denver's University Club for the annual meeting honored by the presence of President Dickey '29 and Al Dickerson '30. Preceding the dinner BobKohn '30 delightfully invited all members and guests for cocktails in his gracious new home, in honor of his new son Bob Jr. ('70 hopeful).

There is some question whether it was the feeling of good fellowship or Association President Bill Grants' political ability, but in either case a lot of stuffy business was transacted in a hurry and a most unanimous manner.

The "Colorado Dartmouth Association Inc. (mostly student aid activity) and the Dartmouth Alumni Association of the Great Divide" (the Alumni Association itself) were merged into "The Dartmouth Association of the Great Divide Inc." with a single group of officers and trustees but new articles and bylaws The nominating committee, Bob More 13, chairman. Cal Fisher '32, and Cy Allen '45 presented and elected a slate completely new except for W. W. Grant III '31 who remains as President. The additional officers become John McDonough '28, vice president; R. L.Rickenbaugh '28, secretary; Ormand Birkland '43- treasurer; and Cyrus Allen '45, assistant secretary. New Trustees elected were EverettParker '16, Fred Carleton 18. Dudley Smith '25, Harry Litzenberger '32, Dr. John Nelson '31, Dr. Seymour Wheelock '40, and EdwinSmall '41. John Cunningham 18 was nominated and approved by the members as candidate for Alumni Counselor for this district and together with President W. W. Grant III, and College Trustee W. W. Grant '03 would be an ex officio trustee of the Association. The voting on every point was unanimous except for one candidate who refused to vote for himself.

Tribute was paid to retiring Secretary DonMcKinlay '37 in a reverberating speech by EvParker '16. Ev's gestures created such a stir his pipe blew out but he or rather it got lit again. Tribute likewise is due to Eddie Toothaker '32 and Norrie Williamson '26 retiring vice president and treasurer respectively. Both have served the Association willingly and capably, and without raises in salary over a period of years.

Al Dickerson in his inimitable style next laid down his pipe and described the Hanover scene as only Al can do. He has an ability to soften our nostalgia for campus days by the realism of his portrayal of today's activity.

Prexy Dickey was at his best. His development of the objectives of "institutional integrity " and "student perspective" together with mention of the current financial problems of our educational institutions made us more than ever appreciate the breadth of vision and perception of Dartmouth's leader today.

Every class except nine from "oo through '46 was represented.

On the purely local scene we hear of the announced engagement of Jerry Reed '47 and Miss Jane Vaughan, a Denver University Pi Phi; the later in February marriage and finding of a home of Ed Small '41 and Dorothy Linck; the creeping old age of the maestro of the slats, Dick Durrance '39, who caught a ski in the underbrush (what was he doing there?) at Aspen, breaking a small ankle bone; the opening of new offices of Dr. Hank Bradford '36 for the "general practice of medicine"; and the recovery from illness of our Head Squaw Alice Toothaker. Quoted is her note in response to hospital garlands:

"Dear Eleazar:

Head Squaw heap better. Likem posies great group. Will stay in teepee till white blizzard all gone. Hop on your travois and come see."
