Dr. Meleney's study will form thebasis of a program to meet the needs for development of public health personnel to promote and maintain the health of industrialpopulations, in addition to the need for general improvement in public health. Sawny Reagan retired as Vice-President of the Pacific Tel. & Tel. Cos. on November 4, having reached the age limit, but will remain on the Board of Directors. He also plans to keep several other directorships and to continue as President of the Hobart Estate Corporation, which owns and operates several office buildings.

Our other distinguished expert on public health matters, Curt Hilliard, has left for a six months' sabbatical vacation. This is the first sabbatical leave Professor Hilliard has taken since he was appointed head of the Department of Biology and Public Health at Simmons College some 35 years ago. For the past twenty years he has also been supervisor of the Wellesley and Weston Boards of Health, is President of the Mass. Tuberculosis and Health League, a Director of the National Tuberculosis League, is a former President and Executive Member of the Mass. Central Health Council, and has been active in the Massachusetts Civic League for many years. I guess he deserves a vacation after all that. But he is going to Cuba, Mexico, California, etc., which will probably make him miss reunion.

Early returns indicate a very good attendance but there are many fellows who haven't made their tentative return as yet. It will be quite a help if you will return them as soon as possible.
