On Friday evening, March 4, we held our 42nd Annual Dinner Meeting at the Sylvania Hotel with 54 alumni and guests in attendance. President Ernie Wright '28 presided and in the absence of Treasurer Herm Trefethen '26, Vice President John Flanagan '28 read the financial statement. Phil Chase '07 instructed the Secretary to write a letter of commendation to Herm Trefethen for his many years of effective and efficient handling of our organization's finances. Herm has been transferred to the New York office of McCrory's Stores, Inc.

.Your Secretary then explained details of coming events on the Dartmouth alumni calendar and asked Tom Bryant '18 to discuss the special luncheon of the Dartmouth Club of Philadelphia and American School Administrators Association scheduled for March 28. "Obie" Obermayer '46 presented a plan to stimulate active interest in alumni activities by members of the '40-'49 classes.

Herb Heston '34 took the floor and gave a stirring talk on the necessity for active planning and participation by members of the executive committee, etc. to bring the Club's active membership up to a high level. EliotThomas '34, chairman of the nominating committee, announced the list of officers for 1949: President, Ernie Wright '28; Vice President, Parker Soule '31; Treasurer, Herb Heston '34; Secretary, Cornwall Miller '39. His motion that officers of the Association be directed to appoint three members (at least one from '40-'49) for terms of one, two, and three years to the executive committee was seconded by HermDavidson '14 and duly passed.

Jack Mason '15, chairman of the Dartmouth Alumni Fund, expressed the opinion that membership in the Dartmouth Club of Philadelphia at $10.00 per year was one of the biggest bargains of the age. It was again pointed out that this membership included all privileges to the Princeton Club, meals at any time, squash, etc.

With the business portion of the meeting finished, Ernie Wright introduced the speaker of the evening, Eddie Chamberlain '36, Assistant Director of Athletics. As expected, Eddie did an excellent job of taking the alumni back to the Hanover scene. We visited the new kitchen of the Hanover Inn, sat in on some meetings of the Dartmouth Development Council, found the selective system of admissions was still operating effectively, and last but not least followed the various teams statistically through the seasons up to now. The long-awaited Dartmouth 41, Yale 14 movies were shown by Dick Frame '28 with running comments by Eddie Chamberlain.
