A very Happy and Prosperous New Year to all Dartmouth men in the Philadelphia area. Let's make one of our resolutions the active support of all the activities sponsored by the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Philadelphia.
First on the schedule will be our 42nd Annual Dinner Meeting to be held Friday eveling, March 4, with our good friend Eddie Chamberlain '36, assistant director of athletics, as guest speaker. His talk will be a most interesting combination of facts on the athletic program at Dartmouth and admissions. There will also be movies shown of some of the Dartmouth football games of the spectacular 1948 season. Time and place will be announced by mail early in February and invitations to this meeting will be extended to fathers of undergraduates and fathers and sons of alumni.
On Tuesday evening, March 29, the Dartmouth Glee Club will give a concert for Philadelphia alumni. We are arranging this concert and dance at the Merion War Tribute House, Hazlehurst Avenue, Merion, Pa. Hold this date open as full details and tickets will be mailed early in March. Attendance will be limited to 300 with no tickets available at the door, but more about that later.
On Monday, January 3, forty-six undergraduates, fathers, and alumni attended the annual luncheon at the Sylvania Hotel. Various members of the classes of '49, '50, '51 and '52 in attendance gave us a very clear picture of various activities on the Dartmouth campus. That same day Dick Pugh '51 received an honors award at Episcopal Academy for the very excellent scholastic attainment of his freshman year at Dartmouth—a perfect 4.0.
