While in College Seth Pope and HarryNichols were roommates in Old Dartmouth Hall and that a very close friendship was established between them is shown by this letter from Harry to your secretary in which he said: "Was shocked and grieved to learn of the sudden death of my old roommate Frederick S. Pope. No finer man ever lived than Fred Pope. He was tolerant, broad minded and a credit to his generation.

"A devoted and loyal alumnus of Dartmouth, he held many positions of prominence in our country and as a friend was admired by those who knew him best. I have lost a dear friend, Dartmouth has lost a devoted alumnus and the nation a loyal and devoted citizen. Sorrowfully, Harrison L. Nichols." The last notice of the fifty year reunion last June which was addressed to Tappan Wiggin was returned by the postmaster at Hood River, Ore., marked "deceased". Miss Ford of the Alumni Records Office was requested to check up on the matter and in her usual efficient method learned from the City Recorder of Hoot River that the postmaster had been incorrect in his statement and that Tappan is confined in the Hilton Rest Home, 1112 Union Avenue, Hood River, Ore., and is not in very good physical condition.

Fred Lord has advised the Alumni Records Office that his new address is 404 Brown Street, lowa City, la. This must mean that Fred ended his visit to Florida and may continue his visit to lowa City until his return to Hanover which he plans will be after commencement in June.

Jack Spring, Class Agent, and your secretary are intending to attend the Class Officers meeting in Hanover the week end of May 6, after these notes have been sent to Hanover.

If you have not sent your contribution for the Alumni Fund to Jack Spring you should do so now so that the class may get credit for your contribution and the year closes shortly after you have read these notes.
