Our annual spring dinner on April 25, at which President Dickey was guest of honor, was in the opinion of all who attended about the best one yet. The dinner committee had worked hard to make it so. Both Senators from New Hampshire, Styles Bridges and CharlesW. Tobey, who hold honorary degrees from Dartmouth, attended, as did a number of fathers of students who are now at Hanover, including Chief Judge Bolitha J. Laws of the United States District Court.
Apparently the entire setting made one unnamed "Old Green" so nostalgic (remember freshman commons?) that he asked for "seconds" on the dinner, and got it without charge. Since this one incident worked so successfully, we are hoping for even better attendance in the future.
The Nominating Committee had recommended a slate of officers for the coming year, and its recommendations were unanimously accepted and steamrollered through. President Herbert H. Harwood '26, connected with the New York Central System, can get anyone a reservation on the railroads, or even on F. Lowell Haas' ('35) friendly airline; HaroldH. Leich '29, first Vice President, can give you advice on the Civil Service Commission, with which he is connected; your second Vice President, Lawrence C. Reeves '33, will certainly be able to sell you some kind of insurance through the Home Lite Insurance Cos.; and your new Secretary, Karl M. Dollak '35, attorney, who is in private practice and associated with Joe Fanelli '32, will handle your case (or anyone else's). Donald H. C. McKay '45, your new Treasurer, is the man you send your money to. Richard P. White 'lB is your new Alumni Councilor. That's the slate. For any further recommendations, get in touch with next year's nominating committee.
Our weekly luncheons, Tuesdays, at the New Athens Restaurant, are getting more interesting and better attended all the time, so, if you haven't been able to make it so far, do it soon.
