Rev. John Lew Clark of Exeter, N. H., has been unanimously chosen President of the Class of 'BB by its seven survivors. The vacancy was due to the death of Pattee.
Richard Paul has sent us a souvenir pamphlet of Jasper Park, a "Paradise of America," where he has again spent the summer season. Paul omits telling his choice of exercise, fishing, hiking, mountain climbing or horseback riding. One alluring picture is a card game before a grand fireplace, and he might be in that locality.
Wendell Williams prepared for Mendon, Mass., Historical Society "Some Early Reminiscences of Mendon," that were read at their May meeting. While this paper deals in Wendell's wit and humor with his home locality, it would be of general interest to all classmates who were born and "raised" in small towns that had their own outstanding characters long to be remembered. Those who grew up in urban surroundings missed some rare recollections in later life.
The vacation season is now closed. The writer and wife spent a part of it with son Laurence on Governors Island in New York Harbor. It was a rare privilege to watch all the great ships of the world pass in and out of the busy harbor, and our better half developed a surprising nautical knowledge of smokestacks and emblems emblazoned on them. The writer got an inkling of radar and views of the harbor from the pilot house of a ferry boat to broaden his range of ideas.
Wendell Williams and wife were at Poland Springs, Poland, Me., for several weeks, where he followed the ball games, and like Paul took his choice of exercise. In the days of our youth an important feature of this famous resort was the luxuriant growth of whiskers of the proprietors. Wendell reports that these have vanished, but when one drinks his cocktail of Poland water at the Spring House let him not forget a toast to those glorious days when Poland water flowed around the world. On their return trip the Williamses called on the John Lew Clarks at Exeter and report them in excellent health.
A call on Keay at Rochester, N. H., early in the summer found him in his usual good health, still in active practice and efficiently filling the office of Medical Examiner for Strafford County.
