The Secretary learned via Mrs. Heald that Franklin B. H. Heald of Scarborough, Me., had been ill since late in December. However, he is now improving. In a letter from himself referring to the careful supervision under which he had recently existed, he writes, "I can truthfully say with Will Rogers that, 'Where there is no liberty, there is no satisfaction.' " Thirty-three years of consecutive service to the American Red Cross and to the people of Scarborough were completed recently by Heald, retiring Treasurer of the Scarborough Branch, Portland Chapter, American Red Cross, a new record for the Portland Chapter, American Red Cross.

From the Pasadena Star-News of Sunday, March 19, 1950, comes the following:

"News with which they are currently surprising their friends is the marriage on March 10 in Chevy Chase, Md., of Miss Helen Victoria Brown of Pasadena and Robert Lincoln O'Brien of Washington, D. C., former Washington and Boston newspaperman and a frequent guest at Hotels Huntington and Green. Mr. O'Brien also chairman of the Federal Tariff Commission under Presidents Hoover and Roosevelt.

After their honeymoon to Florida by motor, the O'Briens will make their home at the Cosmos Club in the Capital. Mr. O'Brien plans a party April 22 at which he will introduce his bride to his family. Guests will include his daughter, Mrs. "William Underhill of Concord, Mass., and his son, Robert O'Brien, of Santa Fe., N. M.

"Mrs. O'Brien is the daughter of Carrie A. Brown, now of Long Beach, who makes her home with another daughter, Mrs. Gilbert Karste. Both are former Pasadenans. At Polytechnic, Mrs. O'Brien was head of the girls' physical education department for 20 years and later was academic secretary."
