Art Young '47 has resigned his coaching position at Dartmouth to accept the job of head line coach for John McLaughry, who has recently been appointed head coach of football at Amherst. Art will be missed in Hanover, not only for his spirited coaching but for his outstanding character and personality on and off the field. As an undergraduate, he played guard on the football teams of '43, '44, and '46 and captained the baseball team in 1947. He was awarded the Dartmouth Cup in 1947 for the undergraduate who did the most for Dartmouth athletics both on and off the field.
"Doggie" Julian, whose appointment as head coach of basketball was announced last month, is losing no time becoming acquainted with his new charges. Starting on April 24 and continuing for ten days, he will inaugurate spring basketball. Like all other sports, the court game is increasingly becoming an all-year pastime. We herewith extend our greetings and wish him well.
